Termite Inspector – Requires Branch 3 License

A Termite Inspector is a state-licensed professional Inspector and is required to perform his or her duties expertly and ethically, maintaining their professional licensing in good standing. To qualify for this position, you must be 18 years or older, show proof that you are legally able to work in the United States, have a clean DMV report and pass a physical and drug screening. A state and federal background check will also be performed.

A termite inspector performs a visual inspection of the readily accessible areas of a home for evidence of wood-destroying insects. The inspector will visually inspect the interior of a home when appropriate (including accessing attics and entering any sub-space such as basements and crawlspaces) and exterior of the structure.

Looks for visible signs of termite infestation, including wood damage, mud tubes, discarded wings, termite exit holes and termite droppings. An inspector also will look for moisture issues and wood-to-ground contact that can be conducive to termite activity. He will also focus on common termite entry points and hot spots for activity based on each termite species’ unique behavior.

Indicates areas in or around the home that can be conducive to termite activity. Structural and moisture issues can include standing water on the roof, pooling water around the foundation, wood mulch close to the foundation, and wooden deck supports that touch the soil.

The inspector will prepare a termite report (a legal document) that notes recommendations for treatment or repair of any damage noted. Therefore, a working knowledge of building construction is imperative.

Appointment setting and route creation is the responsibility of the office staff. Route completion and customer satisfaction is the inspector’s responsibility.

Identify termites and other structural pests.
Recognize signs of termite activity.
Be proficient in methods of termite control, including termiticides and nonchemical control methods. • Have expert knowledge of treatment materials, application techniques and environmental impact.
Understand regulations for applying registered treatment materials.
Attend all Company Safety Meetings and Field Service Training Meetings.
Understand and comply with all company policies, safety guidelines, laws and regulations.
Maintain industry licensing by participating in and passing continuing education courses Failure to maintain licensing (in good standing) will exempt you from employment with the company.
Keep a neat appearance. Company provides uniforms and safety equipment.
Provide a safe place to park the work vehicle after hours and on weekends.
Keep company provided vehicle and equipment clean and brings repair and safety issues with vehicle and equipment to the attention of the service staff.

Our inspectors are not commissioned salespeople.

At Corky’s we don’t pay our inspectors commission based on the amount of termite work they sell. This is a full time position, paid hourly, with vehicle and company gas card provided, vacation, sick and holiday pay included along with company paid health and life insurance plans.

Compensation for this position starts at, $16.00 per hour and increases with experience and the acquisition of other licenses in the industry. Work hours may vary but are generally, 7:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work as needed.

Pest Control Technician

Technicians interact with customers and treat their properties for the control of common pests.
Pest Control is a profession and requires state licensing (as with a nurse or building contractor) before any work can be performed by an individual or company.

To qualify for this position, you must be 18 years of age or older, show proof that you are legally able to work in the United States, have a clean DMV report and pass a physical and drug screening. A state and federal background check will also be performed.

This position consists of a 45- hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 5pm. This provides a minimum of 1- hour over-time per day with 2- 15 minute breaks (paid) and a ½ hour lunch (unpaid). Saturday work when available is offered to those who want it or can be mandatory to complete a weekly route schedule. Route creation is the responsibility of the office staff.
Route completion and customer satisfaction is the technician’s responsibility. Field sales are encouraged to enhance the route and commissions are paid for those sales.

Compensation for this position starts at $15.00 per hour for a trainee (pre-licensing) and increases as professional licensing is obtained. A trainee can obtain their first licence, an Applicator 2/3, in approximately 90 days. Applicators start at $15.50 per hour and Branch 2 Field Representatives start at $16.00 per hour. As other licenses are added to the pest technicians portfolio (Branch 1 or/and Branch 3 Termite licenses, QAC, QAL, PCA, ACE, BCE) , wages increase as experience and knowledge increases. A pest technician acquiring and maintaining 5 professional, industry licenses, can earn approximately $58,000.00 per year (this includes, regular wages, minimum overtime, company paid insurances- health and life, vacation and holiday pay and personal maintenance (laundry etc.). Becoming fully licensed can be accomplished in approximately 3 years with home and online study.

Duties Include (Residential and Commercial Departments)
Requires a Branch 2/3 applicators license and/or a Branch 2 field representative license

Is responsible for the correct preparation, application, transportation, and storage of the pesticides and other chemicals used.
Must demonstrate the ability to crawl into attics and sub-areas and use ladders and scaffolding safely.
Demonstrates pest control knowledge and communicates it effectively to the customer.
Is courteous and attentive to the customer’s pest control needs.
Attends all Company Safety Meetings and Field Service Training Meetings.
Must understand and comply with all company policies, safety guidelines, state laws and regulations.
Must maintain industry licensing by participating in and passing continuing education courses. Failure to maintain licensing (in good standing) will terminate your employment with the company.

Provides a safe place to park the work vehicle after hours and on weekends.

Termite Damage Repair Specialist: (Construction Termite Repair) – No Licensing Required

To qualify for this position, you must be 18 years of age or older, show proof that you are legally able to work in the United States, have a clean DMV report and pass a physical and drug screening. A background check will also be performed.

This position consists of a 40 hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 5pm, with 2-15 minute breaks (paid) and a ½ hour lunch (unpaid). Hours may vary depending on company or customer needs. Saturday work is offered to those who wish to work or can be mandatory to complete a weekly work schedule or meet a customers needs.

Compensation starts at $15.00 per hour and increases depending upon knowledge and experience. This is a full-time position, comes with access to a company vehicle and company gas card, paid vacation days, sick and holiday pay, and includes company paid health and life insurance benefits.

Duties include but are not limited to:

A termite repair specialist, is required to do the repair and/or replacement of damaged structural wood members resulting from termite or other wood destroying organism infestations.

Position Qualification:

Must have a working knowledge of building construction and materials (minimum of 3 years, structural construction experience)
Must be proficient in the use of equipment and tools associated with the building, construction trade.
Must demonstrate the ability to crawl into attics and sub-areas and use ladders and scaffolding safely.

Customer Service Representative (Residential and Commercial Departments)

Customer service representatives help field customer calls, serve as a liaison between customers and service technicians and promote the sale of the company’s services. In order to qualify for this position, you must be 18 years or older and show proof that you are legally able to work in the state of California.

Compensation starts at $15.00 per hour. Full and part-time positions available. For full time positions the company provides, paid health care and life insurance, paid sick days, vacations and holidays. As with the technicians, pay is dependent on pest control licenses held. Customer Service Responsibilites:

Handles incoming calls for new services and miscellaneous inquiries.
Handles service questions for future scheduled service.
Calls to book (schedule) from customer lists using customer lists provided.
Sells annual service plans to new and occasional non-computer booked customers.
Reschedules missed or postponed service appointments.
Maintains customer records with accuracy.
Helps promote a team atmosphere.
Maintains updated information on pest control related subjects.
Studies for and completes requirements for pest control licensing. When license is aquired, maintains license in good standing through continuing education.

Here are a few “important skills” every successful customer service representative must have naturally or be able to cultivate in a short period of time.

Patience: Not only is patience important to customers, who often reach out to support when they are confused and frustrated, but it’s also important to the business at large: It’s a fact that great service beats fast service every time.

Attentiveness: The ability to really listen to customers is so crucial for providing great service. Your customers deserve respect and part of showing respect is listening and acknowledging your understanding of your customers’ concerns.

Clear Communication Skills: Make sure you’re getting to the problem at hand quickly. When it comes to important points that you need to relay clearly to customers, keep it simple and leave nothing to doubt. More customers have been lost to unintentional misunderstandings than to other service situations.

Product Knowledge: The most successful customer service personnel will have a deep knowledge of the products they sell. Without knowing your product from front-to-back, you won’t know how to help customers when they run into problems.

Ability to Use “Positive Language”: Rather than telling a customer what you can’t do for them, let them know first what can be done. People respond to positive statements more favorably even if you’re telling them you can’t do exactly what they want.

Acting Skills: Every great customer service rep will have those basic acting skills necessary to maintain their usual cheery personality in spite of dealing with people who may be just plain grumpy.

Time Management Skills: Even though it’s important to spend time with a customer, the bottom line is that there is a limit, and you need to be concerned with getting customers what they want in an efficient manner.

A Calming Presence: The best customer service reps know that they cannot let a heated customer force them to lose their cool; in fact, it is their job to try to be the “rock” for a customer who thinks the world is falling down due to their current problem.

Persuasion Skills: You need to have some mastery of persuasion so that you can convince interested customers that your product is right for them (if it truly is).

Tenacity: A great work ethic and a willingness to do what needs to be done (and not take shortcuts) is a key skill when providing the kind of service that people talk about. Putting in the extra effort will come back to you ten-fold when your driving motivation is to never “cheat” your customers with lazy service.
