Why Ants are Inside Your Place
The ants you see are most likely looking for one thing—water.
Water Supply:
The morning and evening dew, which is an ants normal water supply, does not exist during the hot summer months. This results in the ants scouting everywhere for a water source. When one is found inside your building, these scouts will leave an odor trail that will lead other foragers to the same source. While they are inside, ants often find a new food source. Leftover food, crumbs, sugar—just about anything will attract their interest, and it doesn’t take much!
Your Ant Population:
It is very difficult to locate all of the ant colonies on and neighboring your property. There are about 3 Queens, 30 workers, and a combination of 150 eggs, larvae, and pupae in each colony for each ant that you see in a foraging trail. That amounts to a huge number of ants! Our technicians have found 10 to 15 colonies on a single property of 8,000 square feet or less.
