The Mealworm Beetle is the largest of the pantry pest beetles, with a length of over ½ inch. The beetle itself is a dark brown color, the larvae is light brown. Many pet and fishing stores sell the larvae as food for pets such as lizards, and also as fishing bait. Mealworms infest just about any dried food products. They are commonly found in cereals, spices, grains, nuts, and pet food. They also will even get into tobacco, herbs, and furniture stuffing.
