These include Spider mites, Clover mites, and others. They especially attack young, tender leaves, sucking out the sap, and can infest citrus and avocado crops doing considerable damage. As expected, all mites are quite small, usually around 1/32 inch. Spider mites leave a silky carpet on the underside of infected leaves. Clover mites leave a red stain when crushed, which can be a problem when an infestation moves indoors.

Life Cycle:

Mites go through a rapid life cycle, usually taking only 2-3 weeks to complete. Hundreds of eggs can be produced, which hatch in around a week. Larvae and nymphs, which may go through one or more instars, only take another week or two. This results in large populations in a minimal time.
