Before a Heat Treatment:

  • Do all of the chemical treatment preparation (see other side) EXCEPT that clothing may be left in the closets and drawers, and bed linens left on the bed. Bed frames can stay intact and furniture may stay in place, except pulled out from the walls for easier access.
  • All closet and cabinet doors, as well as desk and dresser drawers, need to be left open.
  • Anything that would melt on a hot summer day should be removed from treatment areas. Examples would be candles, lipstick or other wax-based products, and photographs (which may bend in the heat).
  • Combustibles need to be removed such as hairspray and other products in aerosol cans. Medicines should also be removed.
  • Houseplants need to be well watered before the treatment to avoid heat stress.
Do-it-yourself supplies are available from: www.usbedbug.com
if you choose to do the whole treatment yourself.
